Students learn through hands on training in an actual shop environment - Brakes & Front End. Students pursue Certificate of Completion and the course prepares them for the ASE Certification test.
FRONT – END MECHANIC/SUSPENSION, STEERING, AND BRAKES (PRE-EMPLOYMENT)
(Hours: 1200)Course Description:
This competency-based course is designed to prepare students for employment as automotive alignment and brake mechanics. Emphasis is placed on theory and shop service operations; students are prepared for the ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification exam.

Understand and apply safety rules, regulations, and procedures. (16 hours)- STATE LICENSING LAWS
Outline state licensing laws related to auto alignment and brakes. (6 hours)- BRAKES/HYDRAULIC SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR
Understanding hydraulic Principles and services system components to manufacture’s specifications (100 hours)- BRAKES/DRUM BRAKE DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR
Service drum brakes to manufacturer’s specifications (100 hours)- DISC BRAKE DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR
Understand how to diagnose and repair disc brake system. (100 hours)- BRAKES/POWER ASSIST UNITS DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR
Service power brakes systems to manufacturer’s specifications. (60 hours)- BRAKES/MISCELLANEOUS (WHEEL BEARINGS, PARKING BRAKES, ELECTRICAL, ETC.) DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR
Understand how to diagnose and repair miscellaneous brake systems. (80 hours)- BRAKES/ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEMS
Service anti-lock brake systems to manufacturer’s specifications following manufacturer’s procedures. (100 hours)- SUSPENSION AND STEERING/STEERING SYSTEMS DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR
Service Systems diagnosis and repair suspension systems to manufacturer’s specifications. (120 hours)- SUSPENSION AND STEERING /SUSPENSION SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR/FRONT SUSPENSION
Understand how to diagnose and repair front suspension. (160)- SUSPENSION AND STEERING/SUSPENSION SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR/REAR SUSPENSION
